We’ve all been there, that sudden moment when a pretty coat, sparkly shoes, or discounted “must-have” stares back at us from a screen (or store shelf). Before you click Buy Now, pause for a breath. Here are five thoughtful questions I ask myself before bringing anything new into my wardrobe:

1. Would I still want it if the price were triple?
Sometimes a low price plays tricks on us! we get excited by the bargain, not the piece itself. If it were more expensive, would you still feel that little spark? Or would you scroll past?

2. How will it hold up after 15 washes?
Fast fashion can be fun… until the color fades, the shape warps, or seams start to unravel. Try to imagine how this piece will age with time. Does it feel like it’ll last more than one season?

3. What shortcuts were taken to make it this affordable?
Often, the answer is in the details: synthetic linings, stiff fits, flimsy fabric, unfinished edges. Look closely! your clothes should feel like they were made for you, not just fit you.

4. Can I pair it with at least three outfits I already own?
A piece can be gorgeous but completely out of sync with your actual wardrobe. If you can’t picture yourself wearing it in multiple ways, it might just become closet clutter.

5. Am I filling a real gap?! or just shopping out of boredom?
This one hits home for many of us. Shopping can feel like a fix, but mindful style is about building, not just buying. Ask yourself gently: Do I need this, or am I just passing time?

6) Would I be excited to wear this more than once this month?
A quick gut-check: if it’s not a “yes,” maybe it’s just wishful thinking or trend pressure.

7) Is this piece aligned with the person I want to become?
Great style supports our future self! not just our mood today.

8) If this item vanished tomorrow, would I search for it again?
This reveals whether it’s truly meaningful… or just momentary noise.

With the holidays around the corner (and tempting sales whispering your name), may this little checklist help you buy less! and love more of what you choose to do.
